The Prius hybrid car uses an electric motor assisted by a gasoline engine. At city driving speeds, the electric motor operates alone, and the gas engine kicks in at higher speeds. Real world fuel mileage tests say you can reasonably expect about 46 mpg on average from the Toyota Prius. In addition to better gas mileage, reviews say the Toyota Prius hybrid car has a roomier interior than the competing Honda Civic Hybrid. Many car makers are making hybrid vehicles because they are small and fuel-efficient. Hybrid cars are powered by a combination of an efficient gas engine and by electric motor that helps with the accelerating. Batteries that recharge automatically while you apply the brakes, power the electric motor. Hybrids are both stylish and have a reputation for being safe and fuel efficient. With more and more consumers focusing on the ongoing problem of air pollution, it is not surprising they are drawn to hybrid Cars. Toyota and Lexus sold over 60,000 Hybrid Cars combined since Jan 1 2006. Hybrid Vehicles are easy on the environment as well as your pocketbook. The fact that they are designed to be kind to the environment is getting the attention of many consumers, businesses, and governments.

Hybrids operate using both a small gasoline engine and an electric engine. The two work independently and together to create one of the most efficient methods of transportation. The smaller gasoline engine uses much less gasoline to operate the hybrid than a conventional gasoline powered vehicles uses. Therefore, owners of hybrids can enjoy lower fees at the gas pump. In addition, since the hybrids use less gas, they emit fewer pollutants. And help America become less dependent on forein oil. In fact, experts agree that a typical hybrid will emit up to 90% fewer pollutants than a typical automobile. These statistics are amazing and are the cause of many new developments and incentives being offered to consumers. For instance with the purchase of a Hybrid Car you get tax incentive savings. Along with savings at the gas pump. Here is a list of some typical hybrid cars MPG.

Car Make/Model - city/hwy

Honda Insight — 60/66
Toyota Prius — 60/51
Honda Civic Hybrid — 49/51
Volkswagen Golf TDI — 37/44
Volkswagen New Beetle TDI — 37/44
Volkswagen Jetta TDI — 36/41
Toyota Corolla — 32/41
Scion xA — 32/37
Hyundai Accent — 32/35
Kia Rio — 32/35
Honda Civic — 30/40
Pontiac Vibe — 30/36
Toyota Matrix — 30/36

Even some businesses are offering incentives to employees who are planning to buy, or already own hybrids. Some businesses, such as Google, are offering $5000 for each employee toward the purchase of a new hybrid. Hyperion, the software company based in Santa Clara, California is also offering this cash incentive. Most corporations set aside millions in the yearly budget in order to compensate for these incentives. When asked, the corporations state they are giving their employees this opportunity in order to give back to the community. They feel that their locations have given to them through sales and in return they should give back to their community by providing cleaner air. Companies like Google even go so far to offer extensive group transportation schedules as well to further the positive effects on the community’s air.

The fact that hybrids are environmentally friendly is also getting the attention of local governments across the United States. Local governments are offering free parking to hybrid drivers. Many cities like Los Angeles are allowing hybrid owners to park for free at city lots and parking meters. This incentive is showing consumers that the local government is supporting smart and environmentally wise shopping. With everyone in a community focused on being environmentally responsible, there is a common goal that leads to a better overall community.

In addition to the employers and government incentives, a few insurance companies are also offering incentives to hybrid drivers, in order to reward them for their smart choice. Although it would seem that the insurance companies were offering these discounts because statistics have shown hybrid drivers are less likely to file claims, it is not the case. At this time there is not enough evidence, according to experts, to be able to determine the risks hybrid drivers may or may not pose for an insurance company. The companies offering incentives are simply doing so to promote smart environmental decisions by consumers.

Consumers hear on the news and weather channel daily about the risks of global warming and air pollution. When you live in a large city, there are even days when smog alerts are as serious as a tornado. It is not fiction that air pollution damages humans and the Earth. Therefore, it is our responsibility to make wise choices when it comes to pollutants. Anything consumers can possibly do to cut down on their own personal pollution levels is a great thing. With our schedules being busier than ever, it is not likely everyone can forgo their vehicle for the greater good of the planet. However, hybrids are now offering a nice middle ground that allows everyone to profit. Consumers, corporations, and local governments are realizing the benefits. With long waiting lists in place for the newest hybrid arrivals, it is likely the hybrid will be the vehicle of the future!
ca-pub-9659650195819673

The Latest in Hybrid Car Happenings

Hybrid cars are one of the most popular options in transportation today. Consumers are flocking to these automobiles for many reasons. One of the most popular reasons consumers love hybrid cars is because they save them hundreds of dollars a year in gasoline purchases. Hybrids are not only easy on the pocketbook, but also extremely easy on the environment. These environmental advantages are getting the attention of government and corporations as well. With more hybrid models coming out each year, it is no shock that this innovative vehicle design is moving to the top of the sales chain.

Some of the freshest news in hybrid happenings involve legislation. Many states and cities are becoming more aware of the environmental advantages hybrids offer for their communities. Just by driving a hybrid, the average citizen is cutting their transportation pollution output by up to 90%. If every citizen made the transition to the hybrid, there would be much less air pollution in an area. Therefore, the government is beginning to offer incentives for hybrid owners.

In some areas, hybrid car owners are enjoying perks for their local government already. In large cities like Los Angeles, hybrid owners can park at any city parking meter for free. Various cities in New Mexico and Connecticut are also offering free city parking for hybrid owners. Even cities that have not offered free parking are offering parking discounts. Students, professors, and staff at the University of Miami enjoy a 50% reduction in their parking fees for driving a hybrid vehicle. Many of these locations only authorize certain hybrids however, based on their total emissions. If you drive a hybrid car, you may want to investigate your community’s incentives.

By offering incentives, community governments can encourage consumers to make wise environmental decisions. Although it is unlikely these incentives will completely influence a car buyer to get a hybrid, they will often help a car buyer who is “on the fence” choose a hybrid for their purchase. Showing the citizens of the community that the government is committed to rewarding those who contribute is a great way to help the hybrid car trend.

Corporations that care about their communities are also getting in on the incentive deals. Many, especially in the state of California, are offering cash toward the purchase of a hybrid for all full time employees. Some corporations will only approve specific hybrid models and others have a limit on how many employees can take advantage of the cash each year. However, as a whole, this incentive is working great. There are many reasons a corporation can benefit from offering this type of incentive, however at the end of the day, the only thing that matters is that the incentive is helping the environment.

Since sales of hybrid cars are soaring, there will be many new hybrid models coming to consumers in the next few years. Most of the hybrids on the market thus far have been cars. For the 2006 model year however, there will be four new sport utility vehicles offered. The Lexus RX 400h, the Mazda Tribute, the Mercury Mariner, and the Toyota Highlander are all going to be available. All of the models are only available with automatic transmissions. The Ford Escape that was introduced for the 2005 model year is doing so well that manufacturers are optimistic about these new designs. Obviously, these designs won’t get as many mpg as a hybrid car will, but they are still very eco-friendly.

At least twelve more hybrid models are expected by the end of 2008. These models will include a Toyota Camry Hybrid, a Nissan Altima Hybrid, a Chevrolet Malibu, Chevrolet Tahoe, and a GMC Yukon Hybrid. With something that appeals to everyone coming out, there is an expected increase in the sales of hybrids. Consumers are going to be choosing models that they already love and getting the perks of driving a hybrid.

With the government, businesses, and manufacturers focusing on hybrid models and incentives for hybrids, there should be a continued trend involving hybrid cars. Consumers will take advantage of these incentives and feel great about doing their part to help the environment. With lifestyles that make driving cars almost necessary, these hybrid cars are offering a peaceful alternative for vehicle drivers everywhere.
ca-pub-9659650195819673

Hybrids Bode Well for Insurance Incentives

Those driving hybrid cars
usually have very few complaints when it comes to their vehicle. Most hybrid owners will proudly inform anyone of the massive amounts they save in gasoline each year as well as the great impact their hybrid has on the environment. They love that their car feels like a regular car, but is less expensive at the pump and less harmful to the air. One complaint however that you may hear from time to time is that hybrid owners are experiencing insurance
prices that are either the same as they are for a regular car, or prices that are slightly higher than for a regular car of the same model.

Just recently a few insurance companies have decided to give hybrid owners a discount on their premiums. This is likely a marketing plan to get more drivers to switch to these companies, but nevertheless they are saving consumer’s money in the long run. The first company to offer a discount for hybrid owners is Farmer’s Insurance. The media made a huge issue out of this new discount, which comes in at 5% off of the regular premium price. The discount applies to all fuel alternative vehicles, including hybrids.

Farmer’s Insurance states that they are only trying to reward those drivers who are being environmentally responsible. It is not a surprise that this Los Angeles based insurance company is following the West Coast trend on hybrid incentives. The town of Los Angeles offers free parking at meters for all hybrid owners. A clean air law may come into effect in the state of California as they attempt to pass several new vehicle laws. With Farmer’s insurance being in the middle of these issues, it is only acceptable that they offer an insurance incentive as well. With over 25,000 hybrids registered in California, there is no doubt the community will start taking advantage of these insurance incentives.

Although Farmer’s Insurance is one of the only companies offering a hybrid incentive at this time, it is certain that more will follow. When insurance CEOs were questioned they all agreed on why more companies were waiting to offer incentives. Most insurance companies only insure a handful of hybrids at this time, making it difficult for them to predict how they hybrids will fair in the claims department over time. The companies feel it is a bit soon to start giving any opinions about the car, and way too soon to begin offering incentives without proper statistics available.

Another thing insurance companies must look at as well is that the consumers who are buying hybrids are probably a “safer” group as a whole. Considering it is known that most buyers are interested in saving money on gasoline, insurance companies wonder if they can assume that these drivers are just more concerned in general. With a more concerned driver, they can expect that no matter what they drive, there will be fewer claims filed on their policies.

Most insurance companies admit that over time, if there are trends shown with fewer hybrids filing claims, then prices will likely go down. In turn, if there are more claims involving hybrids, the premiums will rise. At this time however, there is just not enough information to make any type of adjustments for hybrids however. Manufacturers feel that hybrids will continue to gain momentum in the market however and expect sales to double. Therefore, there will be more hybrids being insured. With time, insurance statistics will accurately be able to show whether or not it insurance discounts can logically be applied.

Certainly however, drivers who live in the Los Angeles area will be taking advantage of the hybrid incentives offered by Farmer’s Insurance. The insurance incentive offered will likely be seen as an extra perk or reward for driving a vehicle that does not damage the environment in the same way a regular vehicle does. It will not likely be the deciding factor for those in the market for purchasing a new car however. It will just sweeten the deal for someone already shopping for a hybrid. However, it seems that with parking incentives, employer’s incentives, tax incentives, and now insurance incentives, there must be a point of persuasion. If someone logically looks at all of the perks and rewards of owning a hybrid, then they will likely choose to purchase one.

hybrid cars
ca-pub-9659650195819673

Are you in the market to buy a hybrid car soon?

Perhaps you are looking to buy a new hybrid car soon. Hybrid vehicles are designed to require less service and are made to last longer and run better made than a conventional car.

When deciding between a hybrid and a traditional car, all factors should be considered. Hybrid vehicles are lower on emissions, use less fuel and because they have fewer parts, tend to last longer. The following are three reasons by hybrids go in for less maintenance.

The generator of a hybrid can take on multiple tasks.

The generator on a hybrid is an important aspect of the car. A hybrid uses a separate gas engine that powers the generator. The engine on most hybrids are very small, usually a ten to twenty horsepower. It is designed to run at one speed to get maximum efficiency. The generator of a hybrid is able help to take on the tasks of several other parts of the car. This reduces wear and tear on parts that often need replacement on a conventional car. Because the generator takes on several tasks, the hybrid car is able to recapture energy when coasting or breaking to recharge the battery. This reduces battery usage and the battery in a hybrid will need to be replaced less often. Because the generator handles 80 percent of the braking, the brake life is extended, as well. Also, with a hybrid, there is the reduced chance of having warped rotors due to less heat to the generator doing more of the break work.

Another advantage of having less wear on the break system from the generator is that the brake fluid life is extended because there is minimal contamination of fluid due to less heat build up. Break pads on a hybrid tend to last longer, as well.

A hybrid vehicle has less car parts to wear out than a traditional car.

Because of the way hybrids are built, they use less auto parts. Less auto parts means less vehicle wear and replacement. This type of technology also does away with a regular starter. Not having a starter makes one less component that will need to be replaced over time. With no starter, there is no way to accidentally grind the flywheel.

The battery and motor of a hybrid do not require any maintenance over the life of the car. The engine is also designed to last longer and does not require any more maintenance than a traditional car.

The air conditioning system used in a hybrid car works by electricity and non-hybrid cars use a traditional pulley driven off a gas motor. Because the car is not running the gas motor to cool the car, there is no air conditioning belt to wear out. In addition, there is no belt required for the steering. Because the steering is electric and not hydraulic, is has minimal kickback when driving over rough or uneven roads.

There is usually no valve adjustments needed in a hybrid either. Because the motor is not constantly running, it does not wear the valve system out, if present in the car. Also, injectors in a hybrid may never need to be cleaned. There is less deposit over time on the injectors, requiring less maintenance.

Hybrid cars usually come with longer warranties.

Many makers of hybrid cars such as Honda and Toyota offer longer warranties on hybrids than on traditional cars. The Honda Insight offers an eight year or 80,000 mile warranty on hybrids. This includes the batteries and the power train. The Toyota Prius offers buyers with an eight-year or 100,000 mile warranty on the battery and the hybrid system. Longer warranties on these cars make an attractive feature for buyers looking for a more efficient way of driving.

When choosing between a conventional car and a hybrid look at all of the long-term possibilities. Hybrid cars can offer drivers a longer lasting car because they are built to last longer. Hybrids are also worth considering because they require less maintenance than a regular car. They offer better fuel overall efficiency, have less parts that wear out over time and many makers of hybrids offer longer warranties.

hybrid cars

hybrid cars
ca-pub-9659650195819673

All Hybrid Cars Are Not Created Equal

The modern hybrid car comes in numerous makes and models, various colors and sizes. And as the desire and need for this trendy car grows, so will the options available to consumers. There are a variety of things that need to be considered in choosing a hybrid car. A smart buyer will do his homework and educate himself with the myriad of choices before making a final selection.

Design and size must be considered when deciding the hybrid car that is right for you. Take into consideration the number of passengers that you will normally be carrying in your vehicle. Also think of the types and sizes of objects you will typically be transporting. What about storage space? Currently, hybrid cars come in a wide variety of designs and sizes. If you are looking for a smaller automobile, there is a two-passenger hybrid on the market. Need something for the family? Hybrid makers have also developed a compact sedan that can accompany up to five passengers. Sport utility vehicle (SUV) lovers also have a choice of this popular car. Manufacturers have created a larger hybrid designed for those in need of more passenger and storage space.

hybrid cars
ca-pub-9659650195819673

Reasons to Buy a Hybrid Car

The efficiency of the
Hybrid

is boosted by the small size and lightweight materials used to make the car.
Hybrid Vehicles
also have regenerative braking. This means that the electric motor that drives the hybrid acts as a generator and charges the battery while the car is slowing. Hybrids also have a periodic engine shut off; meaning when a hybrid is stopped in traffic, the engine is temporarily shut off. Then when the car is put back in gear, the car starts automatically. The efficiency of a hybrid car outperforms that of a conventional car.

Hybrid Cars

are friendly to the environment.

Because a hybrid idles less and is more fuel efficient, it benefits the environment. The hybrid gets better gas mileage than a conventional gas engine. They consume less gas and produce less pollution per mile than other non-hybrid cars. Some hybrids can get ten to fifteen miles per gallon more than a regular gas engine. They are also capable of producing 90 percent fewer harmful emissions.

hybrids

hybrid cars
ca-pub-9659650195819673

Give Yourself Some Credit – Tax incentives for Hybrid Owners

Buying a hybrid is becoming quite an investment. The hybrid, which operates on both a gasoline engine and an electric engine, is offering much more than a decrease in gasoline cost. It also offers consumers the ability to directly help the environment.
Hybrid Cars

are known to emit very few pollutants, especially when compared to conventional vehicles. It is stated that hybrids are up to 90% cleaner to the air than normal cars. This something the government is willing to reward hybrid drivers for.

Tax incentives for hybrid owners are one of the newest things offered. Hybrid owners are ecstatic about the new bill passed that gives them as much as $3,400 back. President Bush passed the bill as a new Energy Bill. The bill focuses on the environment but also on the fact that hybrids save on oil use. This directly affects the country’s dependency on foreign oil. When a consumer purchases a hybrid, they are directly helping break the control many radical Islamists have over the United States through oil. These are the same individuals who hate the United States. Therefore, it is only logical the United States would want to reward hybrid owners for their smart purchases.
hybrids
hybrid cars
ca-pub-9659650195819673

Tap into the Newest in Vehicle Technology

If you are one that loves being the first to try out new trends, then you should certainly consider looking at a hybrid vehicle. Hybrids are the newest in vehicle technology and one of the hottest items on the market. They are so popular that many manufacturers have very extensive waiting lists. Dealers were running out of hybrids and couldn’t get their orders filled fast enough so several companies even stopped all other deliveries until the dealer orders were filled. The hybrid is the new accessory that many cannot wait to get their hands on.

Many may question why the hybrid is the hottest thing in the automobile market right now. The fact is that there are several reasons consumers are running toward these innovative vehicles. The most popular reason people are trying out hybrids today are due to the great gas mileages the hybrids offer. The average hybrid can offer up to 50 mpg. This is an amazing innovation and consumers are excited about it.

Since
Hybrid Cars

use a small gasoline engine as well as an electric motor, they require much less gasoline than a conventional vehicle. When they get better mileage, they save drivers money on gasoline. It is no secret that gasoline prices have been raised to all time heights in the past few years, so this type of transportation is widely welcomed. When the average driver spends up to $50 a week on gasoline and a hybrid owner spends no more than $20 a week, it is clear where the benefits stand.

Another reason people are so excited about hybrid vehicles is because they are environmentally friendly. They put off up to 90% fewer pollutants than a conventional gasoline powered vehicle. Drivers can feel great about driving a vehicle that has very few pollutants. Communities are offering incentives like free parking for hybrid drivers, which are only making them more popular. Cities are realizing that by rewarding their hybrid drivers, they are showing citizens that the public condones good environmental decisions. With parking difficult to come by in large cities, this is a great reward for a hybrid driver.

hybrids

hybrid cars
ca-pub-9659650195819673

What’s a hybrid car? Basic facts on this new technology

Most consumers have heard of hybrid cars, but many of them could not explain the definition. The actual definition of the word “hybrid” is stated as something of mixed origin or composition. This definition fits today’s hybrid cars perfectly. A hybrid car is a vehicle that has both a gasoline engine and an electric motor. The gasoline engine is often smaller than in regular vehicles, allowing the electric motor to compensate with energy. A high-voltage battery charges the electric motor. Although older hybrid cars need to be “plugged up” when not in use, newer hybrids recharge themselves when not in use
More...

hybrid cars blog

hybrid cars website
ca-pub-9659650195819673

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://hybridtrans.blogspot.com/2006/07/whats-hybrid-car-basic-facts-on-this.html' title='What’s a hybrid car? They are becoming the choice vehicle for many consumers. Hybrids are trendy in both style and reputation. With more consumers being focused on the ongoing problem of air pollution, it is not a surprise they are drawn to hybrid vehicle models. Hybrids are easy on the environment as well as your pocketbook. The fact that they are designed to be kind to the environment is getting the attention of many consumers, businesses, and governments.
The efficient system under the hood of a hybrid contributes to its environmentally friendly label. In fact, experts agree that a typical hybrid will emit up to 90% fewer pollutants than a typical conventional vehicle. These statistics are amazing and are the cause of many new developments and incentives being offered to consumers. With so many incentives being offered, the hybrid cannot be refused.

hybrid cars blog

hybrid cars website
ca-pub-9659650195819673

Hybrid Vehicle Savings.

Most typical drivers estimate they spend less than $20 a week in gas for their hybrid. This is due to the fact that hybrids get better mpg than conventional gasoline powered cars. Each hybrid model varies with its mpg, however it is estimated that the average mpg for a hybrid vehicle is around 46. It is estimated that if you own a vehicle that gets 21 mpg, you will spend an average of $8,500 a year on gasoline. If you own a hybrid that gets 46 mpg, you will save over $4,600 a year, spending only $3,900 on gasoline. If you buy a hybrid that gets 55 mpg or more, then you will save between $500 and $1000 more a year compared to a 46mpg hybrid.
ca-pub-9659650195819673

The Lowdown on the Latest in Hybrid SUVs

It is still surprising that the first hybrid vehicle was a car. With the reputation that SUVs have for being giant gas-guzzlers with no respect for the environment, you would think that we would have seen the Toyota Highlander several years ago. If they had thought even further ahead, then perhaps we would already have our first hybrid minivan in the U.S., instead of in Japan. As of now, there are four hybrid SUVs available in the mainstream market, with more on the way, including the Saturn VUE, which is set to release in 2007. Mazda is also coming out with their Tribute in 2006. Many people have been waiting patiently for an affordable hybrid SUV and now would be the time to get one. More manufacturers are offering decently priced SUVs than ever before. Technology, combined with makers’ shaving a little off of the prices to encourage buyers, have at least four SUVs under $35,000 on the market. As long as you don’t insist on buying the Lexus RX 400h, which will start you around $49,000, a hybrid SUV is off to a great start for its handful of makers.

hybrid vehicles
ca-pub-9659650195819673

Tap into the Newest in Vehicle Technology – Hybrids are Happening!

If you are one that loves being the first to try out new trends, then you should certainly consider looking at a hybrid vehicle. Overall, with savings in gasoline, hybrid vehicle owners will make up any cost difference quickly. Some corporations are offering cash toward the purchase of a hybrid for their employees. The gasoline motor and the electric motor work together. Together they help the wheels of the vehicle move. It is an interesting exchange, with the gasoline motor instantly shutting off when the car is not in motion. Although it seems that the driver would notice this process, it goes undetected by the driver. The motors are virtually silent, disallowing the driver to be aware of what exactly is taking place under the hood. By using the energy supplied by the electric motor, the car uses less fuel than a normal car model. Along with the lower fuel usage, the hybrid vehicle also emits less pollution.
ca-pub-9659650195819673

More Money in your Pocket? – Hybrid Vehicles Gas up Less Often

Gas prices all over the world have been soaring for years, giving drivers no other option than to pay the high prices. With more people driving vehicles that require more gas on a weekly basis, the rise in prices in being felt financially. Although experts agree that the rise in gas prices are not significant enough to deter consumers from driving their big trucks and sports utility vehicles, the thrifty spender may see things differently. A popular option for those looking for a cheaper way to travel is the hybrid vehicle.

The “hybrid” is something of mixed origin or composition by definition. A hybrid vehicle is one that has both a gasoline engine and an electric engine in which it operates upon. The gasoline engine is often smaller than in regular vehicles, allowing the electric motor to compensate with energy. A high-voltage battery charges the electric motor when the car is parked. Today’s hybrid vehicles can operate using either engine or both at the same time. This efficient system is great for the environment and even better for your pocket book.

With hybrid vehicles running on both a gasoline engine as well as an electric motor, they do not require as much gasoline as regular vehicles. Most hybrid vehicles average around 50 mpg, which is amazing when compared to conventional gasoline engine vehicles. The incredible gas mileage is one reason hybrids are being thrust to the front of the industry during the soaring gas prices. On another note, since hybrids burn less gasoline than most vehicles, they also emit fewer pollutants. Studies show they are 90% cleaner than a conventional automobile. The small and efficient engines also help reduce their total exhaust emissions, making them not only financially wise choices but also environmentally wise choices.

The fact that hybrids have two engines that work together to get the most efficient results in vehicle travel is the main reason why hybrids get great gas mileage. There are a few other minor reasons that also contribute however. Most hybrids are being sold with low-rolling resistance tires included. These tires are named as such because they have proven to roll easily on the road. The easily rolling measurement also means that they minimize the energy used by the tire. With the tires using less energy, they are allowing the car to be more efficient and in turn get better gas mileage. Studies have shown that hybrids with low-rolling resistant tires have saved drivers an average of 6% more on gasoline usage.

The average driver of a sports utility vehicle may complain of spending up to $50 a week on gasoline for their vehicle. These drivers are those they have only traveled in their own town during the week. An average hybrid driver estimates they spend less than $20 a week in gas for their hybrid. This is due to the fact that hybrids get better mpg than conventional gasoline powered cars. Different models of hybrids will in fact get different mpg rates.

Charts show that if you own a vehicle that gets 21 mpg, you will spend an average of $8,500 a year on gasoline. If you own a hybrid that gets 46 mpg, you will save over $4,600 a year, spending only $3,900 on gasoline. Buying a hybrid that gets 55 mpg or more, you will save between $500 and $1000 more a year compared to a 46mpg hybrid. These facts are enough to make conventional SUV owners want to run toward a hybrid.

If you are tired of paying way too much at the pump, then you should certainly consider an alternative form of transportation. You can choose to ride your bike, take a city bus, or carpool. The most luxurious option however is to purchase a hybrid. There are many different models of hybrids offered at this time. There are many more models coming out soon. Many hybrid models have distinct looks, while others, like the Toyota Camry Hybrid will have a typical “Camry” look. No matter what styles and models you like, there is something in a hybrid option for you. hybrid vehicles
ca-pub-9659650195819673

Plug It in-The Basics of a Plug-In Hybrid

A plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV), also called a gas-electric hybrid fueled vehicle, is an automobile that is equipped with an extra battery, and also has the ability to be recharged from an exterior electrical outlet. Car owners will have the choice to plug the hybrid in, but will not be required to for operation, as the gas engine is still available. The plug-in hybrid is known for its numerous economical, as well as efficiency advantages over traditional non-hybrid automobiles. Plug-in hybrids are commonly used for short road trips of a constant speed. Because these vehicles do not require the use of an internal combustion engine, and the gasoline engine is only used when absolutely necessary, they are great fuel savers.
ca-pub-9659650195819673

Emission Standards.....How do hybrid vehicles perform? Part 2

As stated eariler(Part 1) greenhouse gasses, particulate matter and carbon monoxide is being released into the air every time we drive in our car. Sitting in traffic during rush-hour or at the drive-through lets one sit in a stew of toxic chemicals. All of these chemicals, gases and particles are being cut in half, or by triple, with the purchase of hybrid vehicles . Because more and more people are becoming interested in what the EPA has to say about global warming, harmful effects on the human body, and general pollution by regular cars, makers are coming out with better and better hybrid vehicles. Each year, makers like Toyota, Honda, Ford and soon GM, Saturn and Mazda, are improving the gas mileage performance of the hybrid models which directly affect how much emissions will get into the air and produce fatal results.

The EPA and other environmentally minded groups are supporting the production of hybrids simply by getting the results of their studies to consumers. Special ratings are being given to hybrid vehicles. For example, a ULEV rating indicates ultra-low-emissions-vehicle and SLEV is a super-low-emissions-vehicle. All of the hybrids are receiving these ultra or super-low emissions ratings from the EPA, while their non-hybrid counterparts are still receiving below average ratings for air pollution emissions.
ca-pub-9659650195819673

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://hybridtrans.blogspot.com/2006/07/emission-standardshow-do-hybrid_02.html' title='Emission Standards.....How do hybrid vehicles perform? Part 1

A close look at the EPA’s (Environmental Protection Agency) will make most people wonder why we have all not been forced to purchase hybrid vehicles. The mileage performance of the Honda Insight, which gets into the high sixties at times, should be enough incentive to get one to purchase it, without even looking at the EPA ratings. The truth is that the more gas one uses, the more emissions and air pollution you put into the air. The way to counteract the hazardous effects of gas guzzling vehicles is of course, the combination of electric and gas power. The performance of hybrids in the environmental department is not just cutting pollution by a few percentages. Some hybrids, like the Toyota Prius, are cutting numbers by a staggering 90%. It seems that the combination of electric with gas power, has not been totally perfected, but it is taking emissions standards to an unthought-of level.
<a href="<a">Hybrid vehicles are showing what regular gas cars really are because they so vastly bypass them in emissions ratings. One-third of the world’s pollution is directly caused by cars. The burning of fuel in regular cars actually puts tons of toxic chemicals into the air. The worst of these chemicals is carbon dioxide. This is the gas which is being linked to possible global warming. Driving a Toyota Prius cuts the tons of carbon dioxide being released into the air by half. Another chemical which some studies show contributes to global warming is nitrogen oxide. This has also been known to cause lung irritation and acid rain. Driving a hybrid has been known to cut emissions of nitrogen oxide by more than half. Hydrocarbons affect the human body to catastrophic results. Birth defects and cancer have been linked to the release of hydrocarbons into the air. Honda’s hybrids have cut emissions of hydrocarbons by more than two-thirds.
ca-pub-9659650195819673

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://hybridtrans.blogspot.com/2006/07/emission-standardshow-do-hybrid.html' title='Emission Standards.....How do hybrid vehicles perform? Many hybrid car manufacturers are making hybrids because they are small and fuel-efficient. They are powered by a combination of a small fuel-efficient gas engine and by electric motor that helps with the acceleration Batteries that recharge automatically when the brakes are applied power the electric motor. At startup the electric motor powers the hybrid vehicle forward until the gas engine kicks in for more boost. Hybrids are now getting an average of 50 miles per gallon.
ca-pub-9659650195819673

welcome

Welcome to the hybrid vehicle blog.
